Range Rover Vogue TDV8 2006 L322 “TDV8” #504
Rare metallic Black
Parchment Connolly hide interior in excellent condition.
With all the refinement, this top of the line BMW designed factory V8 is the most sought after of the L322 series, which with its light and corrosion free all -aluminium chassis, is considered by many, including Jeremy Clarkson, to be the finest iteration of the Range Rover evolution.
Showing only 152,740 miles, this excellent example has been meticulously maintained by its previous owners
Metallic black with cream leather interior, arguably one of the nicer combinations on the market
MOT'D until December 2022
The 3rd generation of Range Rover (L322) propelled the model to be the kings of the luxury SUV market.
At this point, manual transmission was entirely dropped as a specification option with the intention to add to the confront experience via the automatic gearbox system.
This Vogue has had a large amount spent on specing the car by its first owner, such as the Land Rover go-pro-style camera fitted in the glove compartment (see photographs) which was a £1,200 extra at the time, And the dark wood veneer dash panelling. Electric sunroof and sun blinds as well as electric heated seats and full 3 set memory positioning.
The car benefits from 20" alloy wheels that add to its already large road-presence.
With the entertainment system being advanced for its time, when sat in the driver's seat the car still feels modern - maybe thanks to the BMW technology used in it at the time.
Handsome and luxurious, GK56 WPN offers everything you could want in a luxury SUV.

Landrover 110 county in Golden Yellow. Owned for the last 13years and much loved, maintained by mechanic late father in law. Full years mot. She is converted from 3.5 V8 petrol engine to a more economical 200tdi unit from a SWB defender. I had a reconditioned gearbox and new clutch fitted last year. Chassis replaced in 09 from ex-army vanbody so it has Salisbury axles and HD springs to rear. We fitted a discovery transfer box for better motorway driving and mpg. She is on brand new Cooper Discoverer STT mud tyres which are also excellent on the road, giving great longevity (2nd set). The taller mud tyres also help with mpg and ride comfort. The wheels were refurbished and powder coated last year so immaculate. The radiator has been replaced with a new aluminium one which runs way cooler and more efficient. New rear crossmember, mid cross member and out riggers fitted for mot by local garage. LED halo headlights fitted. Bulkhead could do with a repair, I bought the repair patches from Paddock Landrover which are included. New rear shock absorbers fitted a few months ago. Tow-bar. Doors are a bit tatty, usual Landrover stuff - I would replace them but don?t have time. She has been on many a family road trip to Arran or to the Highlands, carrying stuff around for art installations all over the country. We used to coach mountain bike skills to kids and she was used a lot for club trips to various bike destinations. Now mainly used for picking up logs for wood burner, runs to coup, occasional mountain biking trip and other utilitarian duties. Doesn?t get used as much as it should though so I?m selling to get a more modern estate. Solid chassis, strong Landy ready for a new home. Yellow, 4 owners, £9,950

1998 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 50TH ANNIVERSARY Engine No 00001
Reserve price: £64,000
Chassis number: SALLDVBM3WA145459
Registration: V151 ODA
Exterior colour: Atlantis Blue
Interior colour: Grey Cloth
Mileage: 44,000 miles (approx.)
KEY FACTS
A beautifully presented and unique pre-production example of the 50th Anniversary Defender 90, which is understood to be the first example produced.
It is powered by a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated Rover V8, delivering 188bhp to all four wheels through a four-speed ZF automatic transmission.
This Land Rover Defender was fully rebuilt with original parts in 2019, including the blueprinting of its engine, and was featured in Land Rover Monthly as a remarkably rare prototype displaying its engine number as 001. Designated badge XX-X.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
The Defender 50th Anniversary was released to celebrate fifty years since the launch of the Land Rover Series 1, and combined an Atlantis Blue colour scheme with a V8 engine, an automatic transmission, and a roll cage.
As a remarkably rare prototype, this example features a pre-production specification under-bonnet fuse box and ECU cover.
Unlike the production models, it is fitted with a mudflap featuring a square exhaust cut-out, has no aluminium transfer knob or window winders, and also lacks the grey leather-trimmed automatic gear shifter.
Furthermore, the car was marked as completed on 20 May 1998 but was not registered until the year 2000, hence its V-registration numberplate, and is believed to be the very same vehicle used in the original brochure photography for the model.
It is finished in the correct shade of Atlantis Blue over a grey cloth-trimmed interior, and rides on a set of 16-inch pewter grey ‘Freestyle’ alloy wheels, shod with BFGoodrich All-Terrain tyres.
The specification includes a manually operated sunroof, internal and external roll cages, air conditioning, and an upgraded Sony CD player with auxiliary input.
A towbar and electric socket have been fitted to the NAS rear step.
Being preproduction it was designated 50thno XX-X the plate plaque is with the vehicle.
The car is accompanied by the original owner’s book pack, current V5C registration document, historic registration certificate showing the Rover Group as a previous keeper, and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate confirming its provenance.
CONDITION
There is no known bodywork damage.
The resprayed Atlantis Blue paintwork presents excellently, with only a few minor blemishes commensurate with the car’s age, including a couple of marks on the side steps and towbar, and a little oxidation on some of the bolts and fittings.
No notable marks are visible on the alloy wheels, and the tyres are new.
Moving inside, the cabin is in very good condition, with only a little wear on the carpets and some very minor discolouration on the front seats.
There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
The most recent MOT test was conducted on 2 November 2020, resulting in a pass following attention to the emissions. The mileage was recorded as ‘Unreadable’.
A fresh MOT test will be required before the car takes to the road once again.
SERVICE HISTORY
This rare Defender was treated to a full rebuild in 2019, which included blueprinting the engine. Only a few hundred miles have been covered since the restoration.
SUMMARY
This is a superb, pre-production example of the Land Rover Defender 50th Anniversary, combining a powerful V8 engine with a smooth-shifting automatic transmission. Whilst prototypes are destroyed, this meticulously restored example is offered for sale in excellent condition and represents an interesting piece of Land Rover history which is sure to enhance any marque enthusiast’s collection.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO OWN THE FIRST BUILT Pre-Production Defender 50th Anniversary V8 Automatic.
Defender 50th with engine number 0001 (31G00001A). 31G signifies this engine as ‘Defender 50th’ spec. This 90 transpired to be the vehicle from the 2 batch of prototypes (pre-production build phase); built around 3 months earlier than the first ‘production’ VIN.
The first batch of prototype 50th vehicles were painted BRG (and one in yellow) as ‘Atlantis Blue’ hadn’t yet been mastered by Design’s colour and trim team. All these vehicles were scrapped as unsalable, and all had Japan spec engine numbers (starting 30G NOT 31G like the production cars).
This is the first of the second batch of 4 prototypes (2 UK, 1 German and 1 Japan spec), and the first vehicle painted Atlantis Blue. These vehicles were not numbered as production – but did have plaques made for them (but never fitted) with the ‘number’ XX-X on the interior and XXX-X on the exterior.
Spec wise, it is correct as a production 50th – with the following exceptions:
- Under bonnet fuse box bracket is prototype.
- Engine ECU cover is prototype (and not white as production cars)
- No aluminium transfer knob or window winders (there were a late change for production)
- No grey leather auto gear shifter (again, a late change for production)
It even has the correct early ‘square cut out mudflap’ for the exhaust, not rounded off like the later items.
Interestingly, it wasn’t released to sales until May 1998 – around 3/4 months after it was built, and wasn’t registered by Land Rover until 2 years later on a V Prefix registration.
One of the 2 UK cars from this build phase were used as the brochure photo shoot car, so we strongly believe it is that car.
This car has just undergone an comprehensive restoration, including engine blueprint, retaining originality as built.
